GUIDELINES
- This anthology is for romance and erotic short stories and novelettes with monster women—mermaids, demons, orcs, aliens, you name it. All the people involved in the relationship can be monsters if you want, and I accept any kind of combination as long as there is at least one monster woman involved.
- In case you choose to write erotica without romance, the focus still needs to be on the relationship between the main characters (so, for example, a paranormal horror story with erotic themes on the side and a dubious ending would not fit).
- Happily Ever After or Happy For Now ending required. No cliffhangers, please.
- Creatures like vampires or fae are fine, but women closer to actual creatures/monsters will be more appreciated.
- All types of pairings (including Why Choose and Polyam dynamics) are accepted and welcome.
- All levels of fantasy are fine (magical realism, contemporary fantasy, paranormal, epic fantasy, etc…)
- All heat levels are welcome (including no spice at all).
- Stories can range from cozy to mildly-dark (nothing too extreme, please). It would be preferable to not have triggering subjects such as on-page non-consensual sex and incest. Subjects like racism, homophobia, transphobia, religion, discrimination of any kind, and anything else otherwise triggering or hurtful must be challenged on-page in a conscientious way.
- New voices and already established authors are both welcome and highly encouraged!
- Only ONE submission per author.
- New/unpublished works ONLY
- The story can be a part of an author’s larger world and connected to another work, but it must be able to be read and comprehended as a stand-alone piece of fiction.
- It can be one long story, or a novelette divided into chapters.
- Length of stories: from 4k to 20k words
- All manuscripts must be complete and edited up to your publishing standard at the author's expense prior to submission. (Because unfortunately I currently can’t offer editing for the authors involved as English is not my first language). We're all indie authors and we all have different ways we work, so whether someone pays an editor or gets a friend to proofreads etc, that's all fine. What I mean is that the stories needs to be up to a publishing standard in the way that they're not full of unchecked typos and mistakes in every page, the way you wouldn't publish a completely unedited story on your own either.
- All stories must come with a content warnings section.
- Authors that were published in previous volumes are welcome to submit again, but be aware that I will try to focus on new authors first to give everyone a chance to be part of this (you might still be picked for this volume, though, so don’t despair yet)
- No AI of any kind is accepted. Your submission will be immediately discarded if I find out you used AI in "writing" or plotting your story (or if you normally use AI in your other books/marketing).
Note: A discord server has been created, for all authors that are interested in this anthology and want to try and participate. You can join even if you’re not sure you’d be able to submit a story in time. It’s just a group where we can hype each other up while writing and stay in the loop with updates. If you’re interested, please DM me (Robin Jo Margaret) and I’ll send you the invite.
COPYRIGHT & DISTRIBUTION
You, as the author, always retain all rights to your work. Robin Jo Margaret will retain sole distribution rights of your accepted piece for the period of three (3) months following publication. At the end of the three months, the distribution rights will revert back to the author.
The anthology will first be available via Amazon only and Kindle Unlimited for the first three months of publication. After the three months, it will be re-published widely on other retailers (via Draft2Digital).
PAYMENT & ROYALTIES
You do not need to pay a fee to submit your story.
The royalties earned from the anthology will be equally split between the authors participating (via Paypal).
In case the cover is done by a third party (instead of by me), the money for the commission will be paid in advance by me, and then the first part of royalties earned will be to cover what I paid out of my own pocket (or part of it, at least). Receipts and screenshots will be provided, for transparency. (Note: the cover of the first volume was done by me, and I generally plan to keep doing it like that, so there will likely not be cover fees to pay, but just in case things change, you have been warned in advance).
There will be no additional costs for formatting, as that will be done entirely by me.
I’m always available if you have any question or concern (you can DM me on Instagram @robinjomargaret or send me emails any time at authorrobinjomargaret@gmail.com)
